You might notice a slight stench of manure over London today, we have been warned.
Farmers for Action are descending on Downing Street to protest at low prices being paid for goods such as milk by Britain’s supermarkets.
One farmer travelling to the protest, Alice Dyer, said, ‘Maybe wearing the wax jacket wasn’t the best idea. As the packed train warms up, the smell of manure is getting stronger.’
Those £1 four-pint containers of milk every supermarket has been offering has meant a huge number of farmers are facing financial ruin.
Farmers were due to meet at Waterloo Place at 11am today before marching on Downing Street.
The FFA says, ‘Remember this march is also open to the general public, our consumers. Let’s make this a very big day and let’s put British food right at the forefront of the government’s menu.’
