TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Dozens of South Florida truckers honked horns and blocked intersections near the Florida State Capitol building Tuesday afternoon.
The drivers are unhappy with their pay, the high cost of insurance, and the amount of money that brokers who book independent operators are taking off the top.
One trucker, Javier Figueroa Leon, was arrested when he refused to move his truck out of an intersection. The arrest was caught by the driver’s wife on her cell phone.
“Get out of the truck,” was the message from a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper.
A second driver, Magdiel Millar, was arrested for impeding the arrest of Figueroa.
