Pipeline protester accused of terrorizing journalists turns himself in

James White of Cannon Ball, N.D.,  was wanted on felony warrants for reckless endangerment, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving and felonious restraint.

Additionally, law enforcement arrested two protesters, one from Texas and another from Virginia, on Monday at about 1:30 p.m.for trespassing near Turtle Hill.

White was one of the individuals who surrounded the vehicle of journalists on Oct. 18 and knowingly restrained the journalists under terrorizing circumstances, according to the charges.  The other charges relate to an Oct. 13 incident when law enforcement witnessed White drive a pickup recklessly and at a high rate of speed into the ditch with unrestrained occupants in the pickup bed, say the charges. The vehicle then passed the patrol vehicle and drove back onto the roadway, blocking the deputy’s vehicle.

Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop the vehicle driven by White, but when he refused to stop, troopers ended the high-speed pursuit for safety reasons, according to the chargres..
