The protest group, Anonymous, has taken part in a demonstration in Derry.

It took place at the Guildhall Square on Friday.

The members of the group arrived shortly after 1pm and stayed in the square for 24 hours.

A spokesperson for the group said afterwards that they had ‘a fantastically positive experience’.

“A large volume of people stopped by and discussed the protest and the issues in question.

“All were extremely positive and expressed their gratitude and surprise at our courage in taking this stand.

“All those that engaged with us fully supported our stance and expressed their anger, fear and frustration at the inevitable damage that austerity measures will have on them and their loved ones.”

The PSNI approached the group during the event but only to confirm that the protest was held peacefully.
