ESSEX, Md. —
Students at a Baltimore County school held a peaceful protest Thursday after a classmate apparently wrote a racial slur on a baseball field and posted the image to Snapchat.
The incident at Eastern Technical High School in Essex upset many students and parents. Students said along with the protest, a conversation on race also took place in classes.
Parents told 11 News that they are surprised the incident occurred at the magnet school, citing the diverse student population. However, they are glad students are standing up against racism.
Baltimore County school officials said they cannot give details about the incident but added that the student involved faces appropriate disciplinary action.
