A popular mural located in the Las Vegas Arts District was vandalized overnight.
Taggers painted over parts of the Dakota Access pipeline protest mural on the 1000 block of South 1st Street.
It happened after a gathering earlier Friday night by more than 200 demonstrators rallying in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
Fawn Douglas, an activist and member of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe, says the act is “disheartening and disappointing … But it will be repainted as soon as possible.”
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
