Man arrested for assault during PDX airport protest in January

A Portland man was arrested Wednesday for an assault that occurred during a protest at Portland International Airport in January.

Though police haven’t confirmed the connection, a self-described street preacher and Donald Trump supporter named Grant Chisholm was punched in the head by a man during a protest on Jan. 29.

“I was just preaching, preaching at them when I got there, just engaging in conversation and preaching. They were just all over us, thrashing us, not letting us move any of that. We didn’t get physical, we didn’t hit anybody, none of that whatsoever,” Chihsolm said. “Even as I hit the ground they are calling me Nazis and all this crazy stuff.”

Activist and former Portland mayoral candidate Jesse Sponberg took responsibility for the punch several days later and even turned himself in to Port of Portland Police, but he was never charged.

James Alan Krane, 30, was arrested at Portland City Hall Wednesday by Portland Police by request of Port of Portland Police. He’s facing assault in the fourth degree charges.
