Groups gather to protest gun violence

ATLANTA – A large group gathered to protest gun violence ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit to Atlanta to attend the National Rifle Association convention.

Trump is the first president in 34 years to attend the convention.

Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes is following the group as they march for live reports on Channel 2 Action News at Noon.

Participants told Fernandes they are not against guns, they are against gun violence.

They created signs with strong messages and told Fernandes that Trump will not be able to ignore them during his visit.

The president will be speaking at the Georgia World Congress Center this afternoon. The event starts at 12:30 p.m.

An estimated 80,000 people are expected to attend the convention. Guests are being reminded they are not allowed to bring guns to the speech.
