US deports Palestinian activist Rasmea Odeh

US authorities on Tuesday deported the Palestinian activist Rasmea Odeh from Chicago to Jordan following the decision of the Federal Court in Detroit.

The court condemned the 70-year-old for concealing details about her conviction and imprisonment in Israel when she entered the United States seeking US citizenship in 2004.

US authorities said that Odeh did not say she was convicted of murdering Israelis when she applied for US citizenship. However, Odeh said earlier that her confession about killing Israelis was extracted under torture.

The activist carried out, together with Aischa Odeh, the Mahane Yehuda Market operation at the heart of Jerusalem in 1969 which resulted in killing two Israelis and injuring nine others. She was arrested by Israel and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1970. She was held captive for almost 10 years before she was released as part of the “Nawras” deal which was carried out by the General Command of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

At O’Hare International Airport, from where Odeh was deported, dozens of people o stood in solidarity with the Palestinian activist who stressed that the struggle against the occupation will not stop.
