Local realtors protest in front of McCarthy's office

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – On Tuesday, The Bakersfield Association of Realtors stood outside of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Bakersfield office with signs.

Dozens of realtors are urging Congressman McCarthy to oppose the house tax reform bill.

This was part of a statewide coordinated front, as California realtors also took out ads in local papers denouncing the bill.

They argue the bill eliminates tax incentives for homebuyers by limiting property tax deductibility and capping the mortgage interest deduction, the latter being a non-starter for realtors.
