Mexicans in Tijuana protest
against illegal aliens.
Echoing the border control sentiments of President Donald Trump, Mexican citizens in Tijuana protested the influx of illegal aliens from Honduras and other Latin American countries, denouncing the migrant caravans on Sunday as an “illegal invasion” and calling for a “Tijuana First! Mexico First!” policy.
“I think these migrants need to go back to their country,” said Roy Grant, who lives in Tijuana and works in San Diego, reported NBC News. “Mexico needs to take a very aggressive, hands-on approach and deport them.”
“Tijuana is a place that welcomes anyone, but you must have papers, you must identify yourself,” said demonstrator Magdalena Baltazar, waving a Mexican flag and marching through Tijuana on Sunday, reported NPR. “We work hard here. We don’t get handouts. The government shouldn’t be giving things to migrants when plenty of Mexicans are in a difficult position.”
The illegals are arriving in Tijuana where they are being processed for possible entry into the United States. They reportedly are seeking asylum from political and civil strife in their own countries, but it’s also true that criminals, drug dealers, and MS-13 gang members are using the caravan to try to slip into the United States.
Tijuana’s mayor, Juan Manuel Gastelum, told Milenio television last week, “I would dare say that not all of them are migrants. Sure, there are some good people in the caravan, but many are very bad for the city.”
The mayor described the alien influx as an “avalanche” and said the city is “ill-prepared to handle this many migrants,” reported NBC News. President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday, “The Mayor of Tijuana, Mexico, just stated that ‘the City is ill-prepared to handle this many migrants, the backlog could last 6 months.’ Likewise, the U.S. is ill-prepared for this invasion, and will not stand for it. They are causing crime and big problems in Mexico. Go home!”

Trump also tweeted on Sunday, “Catch and Release is an obsolete term. It is now Catch and Detain. Illegal Immigrants trying to come into the USA, often proudly flying the flag of their nation as they ask for US Asylum, will be detained or turned away. Dems must approve Border Security & Wall NOW!”
Mayor Gastelum has been spotted wearing a red and white “Make Tijuana Great Again” cap, similar to the Trump-style “Make America Great Again” hat.

About 3,000 migrants are in Tijuana now and awaiting processing. It is estimated that the number of illegals there will increase to 10,000, reported The Guardian.
The Guardian further reported that protesters on Sunday were chanting, “Out Hondurans, we don’t want you here!” and “Tijuana First!” and “Long Live Mexico!” Some of the signs carried by the protestors read, “No to the Invasion,” “No More Migrants,” and “Immigrants Yes, Illegals No.”
